ANSSO Mobilization

ANSSO Mobilization

Background

Political apathy among Nigerian youths had become a serious concern. With many young people feeling disconnected from governance and civic responsibility, national policies rarely reflected their needs or input.

Challenge

Heading into the 2023 general elections, there was growing urgency to mobilize youth participation, especially in leadership discourse. The challenge was to rally and educate a massive, diverse student population across the country in a short period.

Solution

As the National Leader of the Asiwaju National Students Support Organization (ANSSO), Moore executed a grassroots and digital strategy to awaken youth political consciousness. ANSSO became a nationwide student-led initiative advocating for democratic participation and progressive policies, especially in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential bid.

Implementation

  • Campus Town Halls: Over 50 physical engagements were held across universities and polytechnics in 20 states, discussing leadership, student needs, and national development.

  • Digital Campaign: A strong online presence was built through targeted social media campaigns, WhatsApp broadcast groups, and live-streamed events.

  • Training Student Leaders: ANSSO trained over 300 student ambassadors in advocacy and peer mobilization.

  • Voter Education Drives: Through workshops and creative content, the organization educated students on their civic rights, voting process, and the power of collective action.

Results

  • Mobilized 10,000+ students across Nigeria during the 2022–2023 electoral period.

  • Social media campaigns achieved 2 million+ impressions, with high engagement on election-related posts.

  • Increased youth voter turnout in targeted student communities, particularly in Lagos, Oyo, and Kwara.

  • Fostered long-term networks of politically aware and active student leaders.

“ANSSO gave me the platform to lead real change. I’m now more committed to Nigeria than ever before.” — Chioma E., student ambassador from UNILAG.
